According to market sources, the sharp rise in international gold prices and increased investor demand have pushed rates to new records. The upward trend has continued steadily over the past two days:
October 15: ₹11,860 per gram | ₹94,880 per sovereign
October 16: ₹11,900 per gram | ₹95,200 per sovereign
October 17: ₹12,200 per gram | ₹97,600 per sovereign
The sudden surge past ₹12,000 per gram has taken both jewellers and investors by surprise, as gold prices continue their steep climb ahead of the festive season.
Silver Price Update
In contrast, silver prices have seen a slight decline of ₹3 per gram, and are currently being sold at ₹203 per gram in Chennai.
