Southern Railway has announced that special trains are to be operated on the Occasion of the Deepam Festival at the Tiruvannamalai temple of Lord Arunchaleswarar.

Southern Railway has announced that over 200 special trains will be operated from different places including Chennai and Mayiladuthurai.

Tiruvannamalai District Collector Murugesh has ordered a holiday in District on 6th December on the occasion of the grand Karthigai Deepam.

The Chief Secretary of the Department of Transport of the State Government of Tamil Nadu, K. Gopal informed that over 2700 special buses will be operated on this occasion of the Tiruvannamalai Deepam Festival.

The Chief Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Government Transport Department. K. Gopal undertook a visit to monitor the progress of all preparatory work for the special occasion including the setting up of 9 temporary bus stops, and 4 additional bus stops.

On the occasion of this grand Deepam Festival at Tiruvannamalai temple, 6500 trips will be undertaken by buses operated from Chennai, Puducherry, Bengaluru, Salem, Kanchipuram, Vellore, Thiruvallur, Erode, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Nagappattinam, Kumbakonam, Trichy, Madurai, Thirunelveli, and Kallakkurichi.
