The cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal would be responsible for heavy to very heavy rains along the north coastal districts in TN tomorrow. For the next 2 days, the met dept has issued an orange and yellow alert. The fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea.
Orange alert has been issued to Cuddalore dist and Villupuram dist due to the cyclonic circulation over south west Bay of Bengal and adjacent places.
Yellow alert has been issued to Nilgris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Theni, DindIgul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli districts. There would be heavy rains and this was confirmed by RMC in Chennai. It is noteworthy that on 7th January, there would be intense rains over north coastal districts like Chennai, Thiruvallur, Ranipet, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, Thiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi and Mayiladuthurai etc. Yellow alert has been issued also.
For the next few days, there would be light to moderate rains in the isolated places belonging to TN. This would go on until the end of NE monsoon. As the winter season begins, the maximum and minimum temp in Chennai will go down.
