We can get a feeling of discomfort or pain in the upper part of the abdomen. This is called stomach upset or dyspepsia. There are several reasons for the stomach upset like overeating, eating too fast, eating spicy/ fatty foods, drinking alcohol etc. We could have a poor digestive system due to other factors like stress, anxiety, GI disorders such as acid reflux, gastritis etc. From time to time most of us experience this stomach upset.
There are few foods that could be consumed during stomach upset issue and these foods are
Intake of ginger:
The presence of anti-inflammatory as well as anti-bacterial properties in the ginger would make it a superb food to eat during stomach upset. Intake of ginger could provide relief from nausea and vomiting.
Intake of licorice:
By decreasing the inflammation of the lining present in the stomach, licorice would be efficient in providing relief for the stomach upset problem in us. Licorice would also increase the production of protective mucus that lines the stomach.
Intake of flaxseeds:
The digestive system would feel relaxed when we consume flaxseeds rich in dietary fibres and omega 3 fatty acids etc. Intake of flaxseeds would help in the bowel movements.
Intake of bananas:
The prebiotic properties in the bananas are superb. It is learnt that the pectin content in the bananas would absorb excess liquid in the intestines. The stools would become firmer and diarrhoea would be reduced.
Intake of probiotics:
During an upset stomach issue, we can consume foods rich in probiotics. It must be noted that the good bacteria would reduce the symptoms of gas, bloating etc.
Intake of bland carbohydrates:
When a person has an upset stomach problem, then the person can eat bland carbohydrates like rice, oatmeal etc. It is better to eat plain white rice during GI issues.
