Tamil Nadu State Government has announced that on the festive occasion of Pongal, all rice family ration card holders will be Rs. 1000/- as a cash prize and this event will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. K. Stalin on 2nd January!
In a notification released by the State Government of Tamil Nadu in this regard, it is mentioned:
“To celebrate the most important festival of Tamils, Pongal (known also as Thamizhar Thirunaal`), a special detailed meeting was conducted at the Chief Secretariat presided by the Chief Minister, M. K. Stalin.
As per the decision taken in this meeting, for the special festive occasion of Pongal in the coming year 2023, all rice family ration card holders and resident families in the Sri Lankan Tamil camps, 1kg of raw rice, 1 kg of sugar, and a cash of Rs. 1000/-!
2.19 Crores of rice family ration card holders will benefit from this measure.
The State Government of Tamil Nadu will incur an expense of Rs. 2356.67 Crores by this!
The event of distributing the above Pongal special gifts will commence on 2nd January in Chennai Metro City (inaugurated by the Chief Minister) and on the same day in other districts, inaugurated by the ministers of the respective ministers!”
