Purpose:
The Unmarried Certificate officially confirms that an individual is not married as of a specific date. It is required for:
– Marriage registration and matrimonial purposes
– Visa and passport applications
– Government job applications and background verification
– Educational admissions and scholarship eligibility
– Legal or court proceedings
– Property inheritance and related transactions
Required Documents:
Mandatory:
– Passport-size Photograph (Max 50 KB)
– Ration Card or Address Proof
– Age Proof (Aadhaar, Birth Certificate, or School Record)
– Self-Declaration of Unmarried Status (download from portal)
Optional Supporting Documents:
– Any other supporting documents if required for verification
Special Requirements:
– Applicant must have a valid Citizen Access Number (CAN)
– Valid Age Proof is mandatory
– Residence Proof must match address in application
– Self-Declaration confirming unmarried status is compulsory
– Certificate validates unmarried status as of the application date
Application Process:
1. Get CAN (Citizen Access Number)
– Visit: https://tnedistrict.tn.gov.in
– Register using Aadhaar + OTP verification to obtain CAN
2. Apply for Unmarried Certificate
– Login to Tamil Nadu e-Sevai Portal
– Navigate to: Services → Revenue Department → REV-120 Unmarried Certificate
3. Fill Application Form
– Applicant Details: Auto-filled from CAN data
– Address & Contact Details: Pre-filled and non-editable
– Verify all information before proceeding
4. Upload Documents
– Attach all required files (photo, age e proof, address proof, self-declaration)
5. Make Payment
– Pay ₹60 through the portal’s payment gateway
6. Download Acknowledgement
– Save or print the receipt for future tracking
Alternative Method (CSC Centre):
– Visit any e-Sevai / Common Service Center (CSC)
– Trained staff will help with CAN registration, document upload & verification, payment processing, and certificate tracking & printing
After Application:
– Track your application under ‘Check Status’ using the Application Number
– Application is reviewed by VAO / Revenue officials for verification
– Once approved, download the digitally signed Unmarried Certificate
– CSC operators can also print and hand over the certificate

– Ensure all documents are clear, valid, and consistent
– Self-Declaration Form is mandatory for processing
– Certificate validates status only as of issue date
– Applications can be saved as drafts and completed later

Not many would be aware of the fact that shaking hands as a gesture of good will can result in some harmful diseases in us. By means of simple hand contact, germs can transfer from one person to another and can create diseases and infections easily.
It is necessary to understand the importance of immediate hand washing and various risks associated with a simple handshake.
We can get these diseases or health issues by means of a simple handshake. Please, be careful.
Common cold:
The easiest germ that we can catch through a simple handshake is the common cold. Tiny particles of virus go into the hands when a person coughs or sneezes etc. The germs would get transferred to another person`s hands when the affected person shakes hands with the other person.
Influenza or flu:
It is true that the flu virus can survive in your hands for many hours and when the affected person shakes hands with others then flu virus could get transmitted to the other person also. Various symptoms of flu are high fever, body pain, chills, cough etc. While cold can be mild, the flu can be tough for us and it would disrupt our daily routine to a huge extent.
Conjunctivitis or Madras eye or pink eye:
Through hand contact, this pink eye issue or conjunctivitis would spread from one person to another rapidly. Touching the eyes or face after shaking hands with pink eye affected individuals etc would transmit the germs from hands to eye. It is necessary to maintain hand hygiene to prevent this pink eye issue in us.
Hand, foot and mouth disease:
Blisters on hands, feet and inside the mouth of the children can be due to the hand foot and mouth disease. Bitter truth is that when the hand, foot and mouth disease affected kids touch another kid while playing etc germs could get transmitted easily.
Diarrhoea causing bacteria:
It must be noted that the germs can be transmitted from contaminated surfaces etc to a person through their hands leading to diarrhoea, dehydration, nausea, nausea etc. It is necessary to wash our hands compulsorily after handshake etc before eating food.
Cold sores etc:
