At what time around in the night, you eat your dinner?
This question might sound silly but it is very important. Whether it is due to urgent work or due to social gatherings or due to some other reason, many of us eat dinner late in the night. Point is that there is no perfect dinner time these days where we all sit and eat dinner together. It is true that eating dinner after 9pm in the evening could be harmful for our health.
Various ways by which eating dinner late in the night would affect our health or side effects are
Disturbed sleep:
Our sleep quality would be significantly affected when we eat dinner late at night. By this, we would have disturbed sleep. In addition to this, eating dinner late would also result in digestive issues in us leading to unusual dreams.. A study conducted by Canada based researchers in 2015 showed that students who indulged in late night eating experienced unusual dreams. The reason for this was due to the fact that our body would find it difficult to digest food while at rest. It must be noted that eating late at night could promote a negative profile of weight, energy, hormone markers like higher glucose and insulin etc that are implicated in diabetes, triglycerides and cholesterol etc. These could lead to cardiovascular issues in us.
More risk of weight gain:
We would have good digestion if we eat early dinner. This would help in weight loss. Truth is that when we eat late dinner then the food would not get digested easily and would stay in the intestines. This would affect digestion also and weight loss would be difficult.
Poor digestion and bloating;
By eating late in the night, there would not be enough time for proper digestion as we would go to bed immediately after eating food. By this, there are possibilities of issues like acid reflux, bloating etc in us.
More risk of heart disease:
There are higher chances of getting heart diseases etc when we eat dinner late in the night. Those with issues like thyroid disorders, diabetes, PCOD etc could face issues with late dinners. So, please be careful.
High BP or hypertension:
Many of us eat sodium rich foods during dinners. Truth is that when we eat these salt based foods like dal, food, vegetables etc in the night, water retention and bloating would occur in us. This would increase the risk of blood pressssure.

Not only are periods (menstruation) difficult for women, but the days leading up to periods also!!
Truth is that women would experience mood swings even before their periods begin. From mild irritation to feeling of sadness or anxiety etc, a woman might experience mood swings.
Mood swings can be due to hormonal changes that occur during periods. There are also others such as lifestyle choices like diet that would trigger mood swings.
It must be noted that by consuming certain foods before the periods begin women would be able to avoid their mood swings. Various such foods are
Green leafy vegetables:
It must be taken into account that leafy green vegetables like spinach, kale, fenugreek etc are rich in magnesium. It is known that this mineral would help in mood control. It has been published in the National Library of Medicine journal that magnesium would lower the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome or PMS like irritability and mood swings etc.
Fatty fish intake:
It has been brought to light by research that fatty fish intake would lower inflammation and is responsible for positive effects on mental health. The reason for that was due to the presence of omega 3 fatty acids in fatty fishes like salmon, mackerel etc. By consuming omega 3 fatty acids, women would be able to manage mood swings associated with PMS.
Nuts and seeds intake:
Essential fatty acids and magnesium etc are present in almonds, walnuts, flaxseeds and pumpkin seeds etc. Neurotransmitter functions would be supported by these nutrients. By this, mood would get stabilised and PMS symptoms would be reduced.
