The Directorate of Medical Education, operating under the state health department, has recently issued a notification inviting applications for admission to undergraduate medical and dental seats in the State for the 2023-2024 academic session. The applications are to be submitted exclusively through online mode.
As per the notification, interested candidates can now apply for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in Tamil Nadu Government Medical and Dental Colleges, including Government Quota seats in Self Financing Medical and Dental Colleges. The process also encompasses management quota seats, including NRI quota seats, in self-financing medical and dental colleges.
To access the application and prospectus, aspiring students are advised to visit the official websites: www.tnhealth.tn.gov.in or www.tnmedicalselection.org. The online registration for applications will commence on June 28th, 2023, at 10 am and conclude on July 10th, 2023, at 5 pm.
It is worth noting that the NEET results, which determine eligibility for admission to medical and dental courses, were announced on June 13th. Over 1.4 lakh students from Tamil Nadu had registered for the examination, and now they have the opportunity to apply for the upcoming academic year.

The Department of School Education of the State Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered the conduct of special evening classes for students in 10th, 11th, and 12th standards.
The schools reopened after summer vacation on June 12th for students from 6th to 12th standards. For students from 1st to 6th standards, the schools reopened on June 14th after summer vacation.
In this situation, the Department of School Education of the State Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered that special evening classes must be conducted in schools for students in 10th, 11th, and 12th standards.
It is informed that these evening classes may be conducted until 5:00 PM or 5:30 PM.
This announcement has been sent to all the District Primary Education Officers and all the District Education offices.

The list of tentative dates for the release of the results of the 18 competitive tests for recruitment of various posts has been announced by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission undertakes the responsibility of recruitment for the different vacant posts in the various departments of the State Government of Tamil Nadu. As such, the competitive examinations for various posts including the Group-1 posts and engineering posts were conducted.
The present status of these competitive examinations and the tentative dates for the release of results of these competitive examinations has been released by TNPSC on its official website: www.tnpsc.gov.in.
It is mentioned that the results of the Group-2 Main Examinations for recruitment of 5446 vacant posts will be released in December.
The results of the interviews conducted for the posts of the Forest Department Trainees, the oats of Assistant Section Officers in various Departments of the Tamil Nadu State Government, Group-1 tests, Results of the Unified Cerographists posts, and the results of the Forest Research Analyst will be released next month.
The results of the competitive examinations conducted for the posts of Veterinary Assistant Surgeons, District Education Officer, Assistant Inspector in the Forestry Department, and the ost of Librarians will be released in July.
The results of the competitive examinations conducted for the various posts of Engineers and the posts of Highway/Road Inspector will be released in August.

Have you experienced nightmares while sleeping?
Sleep is highly necessary for any person to lead a normal and healthy life. Bitter fact is that there are some people who sleep well and there are others who sleep poorly due to certain reasons. Sometimes, while sleeping in the REM or rapid eye movement stage, we could get nightmares. It is worthy to mention that nightmares are a series of frightening dreams that would disturb the sleep of a person. Not only the old persons, but also the young persons can get nightmares.
Various important reasons why we get nightmares during sleeping are
Stress and anxiety:
Stress and anxiety are responsible for nightmares in many people for three days. It is important to note that when the mind is full of negative thoughts and worries etc then sleep would get disturbed and we could get frightening dreams etc. The cortisol released during stress could increase the chances of getting nightmares.
Trauma:
Nightmares are common in those with trauma and PTSD or post traumatic stress disorder. Trauma would disturb the peaceful sleep of a person and can lead to dreams triggering past memories.
Medications:
Nightmares can also be possible in a person due to some medications also. Medicines like antidepressants, beta blockers etc can cause nightmares in some persons. Point is that these medications could impact the neurotransmitters in the brain.
Substance abuse:
Intake of alcohol, drugs and some medications like sleeping pills etc can cause nightmares in some persons. The brain`s ability to regulate REM sleep could be impacted by these substances.This would result in nightmares etc.
Changes in sleep pattern:
Jet lag or shift work etc can lead to changes in the sleep pattern and this can also cause nightmares in us. Body`s natural circadian rhythm would get disrupted by jet lag or shift work etc and this would lead to nightmares.
Certain foods:
There are also chances that by eating certain foods we can get nightmares. When we eat very heavy food right before bedtime then it could lead to indigestion and then to nightmares etc also.
Medical conditions:
Nightmares can also be caused by certain medical conditions like AD, Parkinson`s Disease, epilepsy etc.
