When our heart is unable to pump blood effectively, then it is a very serious issue!!

Point to be noted is that heart failure or heart inability to pump blood effectively could result in the collection of fluid in the lungs and in other tissues etc. It is noteworthy that the symptoms of heart failure symptoms would be different for different persons. While sleeping, symptoms of heart failure would become more noticeable. Therefore, we must be aware of these heart failure symptoms and get treated for the issue. Both men as well as women can get heart failure issues in them.

These are the various silent symptoms of heart failure that could occur in the night

Difficulty in breathing or orthopnea:
Those with heart failure would have sudden shortness of breath while sleeping. This is an important symptom that must be considered seriously. It is possible to overcome this issue using pillows or by sitting up upright to breathe comfortably.

Paroxysmal Nocturnal Dyspnea or PND:
In some persons, after a few hours of falling asleep, there would be severe nighttime breathlessness problems. This is called Paroxysmal Nocturnal Dyspnea or PND. The person would feel anxious and would have the urge to sit or stand etc.

Coughing and wheezing:
Especially in the night time, fluid retention in the lungs would lead to severe coughing and wheezing etc. The person would have frothy pinkish coloured sputum.

Rapid heartbeat or tachycardia:
While at sleep, heart failure could result in irregular heartbeat or rapid heartbeat. It must be taken into account that it can manifest as palpitations or sensation of the heart racing etc. This would make the sleeping person get up.

Swelling in ankles legs etc:
Symptoms of heart failure such as swellings in the ankles, legs etc might occur at night and the person might find it difficult.

Sudden awakenings etc:
Sensation of drowning, chest pain etc caused due to heart failure would suddenly awaken the person from sleep.

Note:
It is worthy to note that heart failure requires medical management plus medications, making some lifestyle chananges etc. In some extreme cases, heart failure would also need surgery also.
