About Vellore Fort

Vellore Fort is one of the most historic landmarks in Tamil Nadu. Built during the 16th century by the Vijayanagara rulers, the fort is famous for its massive granite walls, wide moat, and impressive military architecture.

Located in the heart of Vellore city, the fort complex houses important monuments including Jalakandeswarar Temple, St. John’s Church, and the Government Museum. The fort played a major role in Indian history and is closely associated with the Vellore Mutiny of 1806.
